“The Engrafted Word”

Another picture that helps us understand our growth in Christ is when the Word has been engrafted or implanted in us. When we lived in Florida, I learned about how sweet navel oranges are grown. You would think that they would just plant seeds from sweet navels into thee ground to get sweet navel fruit, but not so!

God has spliced into our old nature the sweet character and nature of His Son! Now we can bear the fruit from His new nature. Imagine that! God, through His word is giving us the privilege of sharing His divine nature so that we can show forth the fruit of His Spirit!

James 1:21 “Therefore, lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.” And in James 1:18 it says, “Of His own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first-fruits of His creatures.”
